Champ188 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Nothing special to report. Donna and I launched in the rain at 7:30 a.m. at Viney and finished at 4 p.m. in the sleet. Temp was 36 when we started and 32 when we quit. Water temps were 46-47 from Viney down to the mouth of the Kings. Caught 15 bass total with 5 keepers that would total about 10 pounds. Nearly all fish on jerkbaits fished around main-lake points/bluff ends. Needed at least a 45-degree slope to the bank. Hope everyone has a happy new year.
Quillback Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I tip my hat to you and Donna for sticking it out in the weather.
kdc Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 thanks for the report champ and Happy new year to you
Donna G Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 We did catch 3-4 on a swim bait through the trees. Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
fishingaddiction Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Good report guys. Saturday was a very raw day, hats off to you for hanging in there and having a good day. Donna, the swimming fluke jr has been good to me lately. I have been catching a few good keepers mainly fished just over the top of deep trees either in front of docks or in the middle of creeks and pockets. swelbo1 and Champ188 2 Born to Fish. Good to know about that Swimmin' Fluke Jr. We've been throwing the Keitech Swing Impact 3.8 but will have to give the Zoom a try. They sure work good on an A-rig, or they did 2 years ago before I decided I was done lobbing those contraptions.

I forgot Champ used Flukes during his A-rig phase. I was letting the Keitech fall to a 15-20 count and swimming it slowly as close to the standing timber as I could. The bites came when the bait popped off the tree. I really like the head Champ has me fixed up with. I'm not sure what it's called, but it has a screw keeper - no need for super glue. I fish it weedless. Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
