Dylan Cluver Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 We took my little brother fishing at Roaring River today, he is 10 and likes it very much, but he's still figuring it out. He casts a fly rod very well for his age. We did decent today on gray scuds in size 14, 16, mega worms were also doing well. We stayed on the move hitting various pools and I think that was a big part of it. The park was pretty busy today, I thought. The water was nice but I think I have seen it clearer, although I don't fish RR often so it may be normal. I didn't fish below the park but did go look around a little. Are there any deeper spots downstream of the access past that little point that sticks out? I really didn't go down very far. No one gripes about obese fish.
Ham Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Good on you for taking your little brother fishing. Try to get him down to Dry Run creek in Norfork, AR before he turns 16. He'll do great and you'll see trout that will haunt your dreams. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
timsfly Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 What little point? Were you down below off Davis holler? Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Dylan Cluver Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 What little point? Were you down below off Davis holler? Yes Sir, if I was trespassing I did not mean too. No one gripes about obese fish.
timsfly Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Nope, that's all conservation land down below off Davis holler, down to the big left hand bend, that turns back to private land, but you can fish it all the way to Muncie without any problems. Amery Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Tim does it hold fish? I've always wondered what it was like. Are there smallmouth down there?
Members Naturesfinest Posted January 2, 2015 Members Posted January 2, 2015 I thought the stream was closed for the winter catch and release season at the end of the park for about 2 miles. Is this true?
Members MarkinKC Posted January 5, 2015 Members Posted January 5, 2015 And while we're talking about that end of the park, I recall Tim saying in a post that Zone 3 is closed during C&R season. Anybody know why that zone is closed?
ollie Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I've never caught any smallies down below the park. Only trout. As far as I know zone 3 isn't closed off during C&R, but I am thinking zone 3 ends at the new whistle bridge below the old dam. I know downstream from the new bridge you can't fish it until the park ends or at least I think I'm right.?
