Donna G Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Here we go again. Didn't bother to cover the boat - carpet's still soaked from our Jan. 1 trip although we keep it in the garage. No airflow. More later. Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915

J-Doc Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 My carpet was wet still even last night from Jan 1 trip at Polar Bear. And it was in garage too since Thursday. I put fans on it and finally got towels and soaked up the water. Carpet just wouldn't dry out. Poor thing has to get dry out and get her cover on before getting kicked out of the garage. #meanolemotherinlaw (Long story) Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! Donna G Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 5:35 p.m. on the trailer headed home. Tough, tough day for us. Two keepers with maybe a dozen fish total. It was alphabet soup - Jerk bait, Ned rig, swim bait, grub, spoon. No luck on jigs. Had to crawl the swim bait on the bottom, though. Kings again. Champ said jerk bait jumped the tracks. . Saw the winter series had some good bags. merc1997 Bo Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 i would have loved to have been out today, but too much catching up to do since i was in alabama visiting family for a week. one of my retired buddies was out for a while today, and they really caught them. they ended up with 11 keeper lmgs, and several of them were in the 3 lb. range. depth for the bite was 49 to 60 ft. and, i did here of a couple of nice catches on an a-rig fished around 30 ft. seems as if you can find them deep or shallow, there is still a good bite going. bo
Quillback Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Tough day for me also, 9 bass, not a keeper in the bunch. Did get a Walter that was almost 4 lbs. that got to come home with me. All Ned fish except one bass on a McStick. Ham 1
Champ188 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm just not smart enough to find them every time. But I would have challenged just about anyone to find a good shallow bite yesterday. We've been catching them at a good clip for several weeks. Yesterday I ran all of our very best places from Sweetwater to Shell Knob and whiffed on most of them. It was just one of those days when the bite was deep.
