dtrs5kprs Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 NOPE. The Canada Craw color is available in the 5 inch bait. I cut them in half and used some in October on a river trip. Good results. Then tackle warehouse must not be stocking them. Insert sad face here. Did not see it on the zman site, but must have missed it. Bloodworm looks good as well. Think the Canada craw may work in place of the green pumpkin orange. That color is great, but you need to buy it in person to make sure you don't get a bag that is mostly orange.
GNSfishing Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I prefer the Nanofil over a braid but either will work for me due to no line memory twist which is problematic with mono or straight fluorocarbon line on a spinning reel. If you ever had a loop develop off the spool on a cast then you know how much of a problem it can be to remove. I have never had Nanofil line to do this. Braid yes but very seldom, fluorocarbon and mono very frequently and these has line twist problems which contributes to the loop problems. I will say that tieing a leader on in the wind can be a pain but if you use a good knot like an albright and do it right you leader will break either at the hook or on a frayed spot on your leader. So check your line often and retie if needed and a 6 ft leader will last for a good many casts and fish..I always tie a new leader on before each trip. Ham 1

I get around twist by running a 30 or 3000 size reel. Big spools stop twist. I easily retie through more than six feet of line daily, which is part of my choice against leaders. Have to discipline yourself to retie with little line and hot brown fish. Does nano not float around like a cobweb in wind? Tried some Seaguar braid last year and the line would just blow along like cottonwood fluff. Never could get the bait on the bottom.
Guest Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Nanofil wasnt a fun experience for me last year, although I tried 17lb nanofil to 8lb yozuri leader. Either way, I ripped that junk off there & went back to good ole suffix braid (insert brand from wallyworld) Nanofil might work for others, but my experience was meh
Ham Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I can and have pimped Nanofil from the mountain tops. I'm sure some folks are sick of it. It isn't perfect by any means, but I think it is the best stuff available at this time. Trust me, You can get loose loops with Nanofil and you can over time get twist in Nano, but these problems are managable. Nano does catch more wind than mono or fluro, but you can deal with that as well by holding your rod tip lower to the water. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Ham Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Nanofil might work for others, but my experience was meh Lol, i use 6, 8, and 10. I think you start to see big drop offs in castability above 10 lb. Get the white or chartreuse to help watch the line. Wait until we fish together and I'll force you to try my setups. We're close enough to Missouri that I'll have to show you. Never could get the bait on the bottom. I thought you were the guy that preaches not to be in such a hurry to get your bait to the bottom. I thought the slow almost floating fall was often the ticket to a better bite? Yes, the nanofil does catch more wind. I think it is not a round profile, but more flattened and I think it weighs a lot less than mono or especially fluro. I think the low weight is a big part of why it out throws mono. but regardless I catch a lot of fish on it windy or not. I know it has greatly improved my fishing and my catch rates. Bill Babler Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I have done all I know to make Nanofil work. Have not solved it yet. Not at all the deal for the Varmint. I have had to go up to 10# test to get it near the same break ability as Maxima in 6 # to throw the spin bait http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Bill Babler Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Personally I have to have the bait on the bottom. Have yet to catch one on the drop. Caught 100s on it last year. Quicker to the bottom the better for me Jim Elam 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
