Ham Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 1) Fish with my Dad. This will be limited by time and distance. I hope to make it happena few times. 2) Fish some salty water. I hope I hope I hope. 3) Catch more species than last year. I plan on trying more techniques and more places. Really trying to get back to fishing for fun. I think the numbers will take care of themselves. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Johnsfolly Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I appreciate your first goal. I wish now that I had spent more time with my dad. So I have to focus more on time with my children. I just wish that more than one of my three kids loved to fish like I do. Since I set my fishing goals based upon the Missouri fishing license dates, I'm still working on last year's goals and won't reset until March 1. I do know that I want to catch a shadow bass this year. So I may ask for more specific information from you on the general location where you caught them on the Current river last summer.
Ham Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 I'm only a PM away. When you are on water that ACTUALLY has Shadow Bass, It's a LOT easier to catch one or a couple of dozen in fact. I'll be glad to help. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
grizzly Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Ham, Spending time with your father is a great goal. Sometimes it takes a near death situation to realize this. I'm 29 and almost lost my dad 3 times in the last 5 years. He survived a battle with Sepsis in 2010, survived the Joplin tornado in 2011 and this Christmas he was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. He's currently on dialysis and on the list for a kidney transplant so we all have our fingers crossed. I see in your post that distance is a factor. Maybe instead of just fishing, you could Skype with him etc. Wish you the best. Tight lines
Ham Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Dad is about 7 hours away. He's 82 and while not a Luddite isn't likely to skype. His health is fair, but he has become more of a fair weather fisherman and his stamina limits the lengths of his trips. I talk to him on the phone a fair amount, but that's not the same as a fishing trip. We've made 100's of fishing trips together, but I'd love another couple of hundred although I know that won't happen. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members fishinjohn Posted January 16, 2015 Members Posted January 16, 2015 Ham: I'm closer to your Dad's age than yours. I'll bet he would enjoy hearing about your fishing trips and seeing pictures of you having fun almost as much as being there.
Ham Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 I try to call my Dad after every fishing trip and fill him in. He knows that my Love for fishing started as my love for him and enjoying time with him. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Seth Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 1) Fish more tournaments and try to get at least two wins. 2) Do more fishing with dad. We crappie fished LoZ and trout fished Taneycomo a few times last year and had a great time. I'm really hoping to get him on the river to chase some bass with me, but he is more of a throw the bait out and wait for the fish to come to it type of angler. 3) Put a few people on their first paddlefish. 4) Catch another 20" smallmouth.
