The usual street we take from town to our house in Montana crosses a busy set of railroad tracks, and we often have to sit there and wait for a train to pass. Looking at the graffiti actually makes the time pass faster. But there's apparently one "artist" who has made it a point to paint his logo on every box car in the country. All it is is a small (abut two feet high), quick sketch of what looks to be an U.S. army officer from the period of the Indian wars, with a mustache and a wide brimmed hat with U.S. on it. It's rare to see a box car pass that doesn't have that guy on it somewhere.

I like some of the boxcar art. I think they should officially give some of the artists a few cars to paint.

Al, I'd say that one is probably stenciled.

Nope, not stenciled because each one is a little different, just as it would be if you free-hand drew it every time.

My fishin' buddy's son recently started a 2+ year sentence from train tagging charges brought by the Boston Transit Athority. Buddy took a 2nd mortgage on his modest shack to pay a lawyer $30K... for nothing. Kid had just bought a defunct bait shop/boat service building on the Detroit River for pennies on the dollar and was working on getting it going again. That's gone. He's already been assulted in the yard twice because "you're a liar. Nobody goes down for painting trains". Real waste of a bright, talented kid.

I can't dance like I used to.
