Ran over to Rogers' Sporting Goods (of Jim Rogers lineage) in Liberty, MO this morning. Ran across a new twist on the current wart, at least to me. Current "original" warts, but in decidedly different colors from the ones found at BPS, or otherwise straight from the factory. Had this version of V38 called "old 38", and it is much, much closer to the old V38. Shiny paint versus the matte finish on the other 38, much better color match to the old one.

They had a few others that were not necessarily labeled as such, but were closer to their old versions...silver scale, TN shad, etc. No other craws that I saw.

Curious if anyone else has seen any of these in stores?

I noticed that too.

The rock crawler has a similar pattern as well.

I've never fished that color, muddy water deal?

just did a google search on it came up with nothin, i always wondered why the 37s and 38s were so much different looking than the old ones seems like a easy color for a company like rapala to duplicate. would be nice if they could at least get the old colors back to looking right like say 63,62.

Awesome deal. Good in the rivers or in the lake. Kind of a tweener. It is definitely in the Spro line.

The so called new original version is not even close to the metallic color of the old V38. This critter is much closer. If Rapala would tweak the half dozen or so basic colors back to this quality it would be a great start.

I repainted a couple of those recently, V38 is now V63. I kinda regret repainting it, but it was a beater. Although I personally like beaters better than most.

I agree that's an easy fix for a company like them.

Man I hope they're going to start offering that version of the 38, that's my favorite wart color! :have-a-nice-day:

I never have seen those, when I fished with Alex Heitman last year, he mentioned that he found some Warts at a local baitshop that had that shiny paint on them.

I don't know of any of the big tackle outlets that carry them. I don't believe I have seen them on Ebay either.

You may have a potential collector item there.

I was planning on fishing with it. Just what I need, another collectible wiggle wart.

The other odd thing is it does not have the tinny rattle of the new baits. Wonder if some of that is due to the heavier paint job?

At a guess, one of the regional distributors had a special run made. Rogers has always had a lot of special run baits.

Quill is right. I remember I picked some up at I found a few old v37 color patterns at cricket creek a while back.

They only had a couple but I can't remember if they had old v37 on them.
