Quillback Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Well, there I am all bundled up with a 6.25 lb. bass I caught today out of the back of my buddy John's boat. Got her on a Ned fished near a brush pile in 10 FOW. We put 10 in the boat today, John got a 3.5, and we caught a couple more in the 2 -2.5 lb. range, including a nice Kentucky. All were on the Ned, and came from 2 locations, the brush pile and a rocky point. A couple of the point fish came in 30 FOW. Also had a lot of dead time on other spots, seems to be if you can find them you can pick up multiples in that spot. Tons of shad in Monte Ne, but we could only catch one bass there - has to be more back in there. Water temps were 39-42. J-Doc, Donna G and Fish24/7 3

J-Doc Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Nothing wrong with bundling up. Man that's a nice report and gotta LOVE that the Ned caught quality bass. It's not a small bass bait. It's a fish bait. Catches all kinds. Lol! That's Beaver for you. Catch them good in one spot and ghost town on other areas. That's where knowing where the fish are is key and that can change overnight. Great job!! Btw, I too thought Monte Ne seemed a bit absent. It's been that way most of the winter so far. jeb Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Yeah, we caught some big un's for Beaver, that's for sure. Nice job with that big girl, Jeff! We found a TON of shad in Monte Ne, but couldn't turn them into many fish. I have trouble going too far into coves this time of year, so my instinct said to pull out and go fish main lake points and bluffs. They could have been back in there, though. J-Doc Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I've been in the back and most I saw was in channels. Jan 1 people raced back there first thing and I didn't see them catch a thing. Mine came out of the channel. Nothing on the banks or in her back. The saying on Beaver is "Shad today, gone tomorrow". They move in and out all the time. I know where you're talking about.
