I'm going to be staying at Buffalo City in early March. I have been catching a lot of fish on marabou jigs on Taneycomo all fall and winter and I was wondering if this is a good tactic on the white. I'm not looking for honey holes or top secret stuff, I would just appreciate some input about it! I hate that I only get to come down for a weekend each year and I hate going in "blind".

If you catch trout on Jigs at Taney, you'll be fine on the White. You might need a little while to adjust your game a bit. It is a river. Taney is now a lake they run water through.

Look back at various fishing reports on the White. You should whack em.

As Ham said, look at reports, you will do fine. For myself the jig works on Taney with flow, the White always has some flow maybe only 750 CFS but Rock sometimes only 20. Lower flow lighter jig, heaver flow bigger jig. I like the zig jig and the Jigs Phil sells at Lilley's. But many will work.

Jig fishing at Buffalo City is the way to do it. 1/16 at lower flows, 1/8 at higher flows. Ham hates the gold and silver head Zig Jigs, I really like them. My two current favorite colors are gold head olive/ginger and chrome head white/gray with red wrap. Tri olive is another stand by. So is olive/ginger with green head along with brown/orange. Zig jigs really are the deal. Ask anybody. I like to run up the shoal as far as I can and drift back. Be prepared to hit a rock or few. Quality fish there. Good luck.

Rick, your the man!

I've put a few wounds on my supreme this winter bass fishing. Some of the shoals I gotta go over are shallow this year.

Dad gum Rick, remember no specific spots, Buffalo City has not fish. You need to practice.

Ok, last time I ever mention Buffalo City. From now on out, it will be our little secret.
