bs1827 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 That's awesome! I'd be happy to hook up with that fish on any body of water.
gramps50 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 He'd give a feller a good workout. Nice fish.
laker67 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 This is so rare, that they will tell the story for years to come. Nathan is a fine angler and a great sportsman. I have fished with him at taneycomo on many occasions in the past.
Members Jeff Behrns Posted February 11, 2015 Members Posted February 11, 2015 Pretty cool that big pike swam way up a tributary like that; maybe 100's of miles; and way to represent the state of MO
ness Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 So I Google this guy, and it turns out he's the fishing manager at the Orvis shop in Olathe. So, why's he telling the reporter he caught it on a Winston rod? I mean, Perk's gonna blow a gasket! John
fishinwrench Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Olathe has an Orvis shop? Shoulda known. Seriously though, maybe that's why he is eating it. ness 1
ness Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I can't believe he didn't tout the Helios mid-flex 6 weight, the CFO reel and the Von Trapp fishing spectacles. The boy has a lot to learn about retail. fishinwrench and luckybasser 2 John
laker67 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 He left the orvis shop for another retailer. He was in training for the new job when he caught the big pike.
Members luckybasser Posted February 11, 2015 Members Posted February 11, 2015 Yes, i used to work for orvis. Had i still been at orvis, i wouldn't have caught this fish. I was borrowing a rod from Mike as i didn't bring anything. I also fished a hardy, echo, and scheels rod that day too. I am now the fly fishing/hunting manager at the Scheels store in overland park opening end of june. Fyi, orvis shared the story on their fb page too, so I'm sure perk is ok. bs1827 and ness 2
