fishinwrench Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Got this reply back from my State Rep. So he "will be watching for them". That kinda indicates that at this time he knows of NONE. WTF has he been doing lately, watching porn ? LMAO!
Flysmallie Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 They don't listen to the people now and haven't for years. That's not true. They listen to anybody that's paying them. The more money you have the better they will listen.
Al Agnew Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I do not support any effort to defund the Missouri Department of Conservation but they have a some weaknesses that need corrected. It is however impossible to discuss these weaknesses without getting a bit of a thrashing from the "better than Illinois crowd." My guess is that a little bit of conversation and true compromise with the various interests from around the state would help to remove this burr from under the saddle of these representatives.Of course MDC has some weaknesses. They aren't perfect. We gripe about some of the stuff they do (or don't do) on here pretty often. And maybe Larry Dablemont has some real dirt on them, although he always alludes to the dirt but never quite seems to name names and places. They have made mistakes in the past and will in the future. But you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Who they really listen to is the Conservation Federation, and the federation appears to me to be a pretty responsive organization. All the hunters' and anglers' groups, and anyone else who really cares about conservation but has a beef with the department should probably band together, join the federation both as individuals and as supporting groups, and get active in it. That way, if somebody doesn't like something about MDC and can convince the rest of the federation that it's a valid concern, you'll know they are coming at it from the standpoint of caring about the resources and not just having some kind of economic ax to grind or some vendetta against MDC or "environmentalists", which is where I'm afraid the legislators are coming from.
