Flysmallie Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Nice Ronnie and thanks. I've been tying some Meat Whistles up, BilletHead Been a while since I tried a Meat Whistle. I need to tie up a bunch. I think they would make a better representation of a craw.
ruthead Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Good looking fly. Thinl I'll have to tie some up for my trip to Canada this summer. EH? "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
bs1827 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Looks good! I've got a few patterns, including meat whistles, that I've wanted to tie up on jig hooks. Might have to give this one a go!
Amery Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Someone has to ask.....what are you trying to represent?
Flysmallie Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Well the first thing you have to know about bass fishing is you don't have to represent anything. They don't seem to care as long as it looks edible to them. I was really just trying to represent a jig and pig. I think everyone assumes that a jig and pig represents a crawdad. But I feel that it resembles a baitfish just as much. I will say that it doesn't do a very good job of representing a jig and pig at all. You aren't going to be very successful flipping it up into brush or dragging it along the bottom. But it has been very good fished as a streamer on the swing. So I guess you could say that I was trying to represent a jig and pig. But I failed. I was also very successful at the same time.
Ham Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 It looks a little like a lot of things, but not necessarily a lot like anything. If it has the right profile and you present it in the correct areas, its gonna get eaten. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members wgdade Posted March 27, 2015 Members Posted March 27, 2015 What product is used for the legs. New to tying. Thanks.
Flysmallie Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Just a single hackle feather. But just about anything should work. I have used a rabbit strip but it adds a lot of weight once it gets soaked.
