I just have a hard time carrying those big spools in my fishing vest;-)

Me either, that's why there is beer, lawn chair and camp fire!! Set around at the end of the day, chat, choke a few down and rewind the tippet spools!!

ehhhhhh

Surgeons knot to attach tippet to leader and usually a cinch to attach fly to tippet.

I called Rio to find out what knot to use to tie fluoro to nylon and they said to use a 4 turn surgeons knot, same as a double but with 2 more passes through the loop. I use a Pitzen knot to attach tippet to fly. Best knot I have ever found.

Just keep an eye on the diameter. 2lb=7x. 4lb=5x roughly.

Well, and the actual diameter. Most 7x tippet is .004" in diameter. Berkley XL 2lb test is .005". Probably not enough to make a difference in this situation, but watch the overall diameter, not just the lb test.

I use a braided leader (http://thesimontons.com/Fishinggear.html) with the tippet ring. I use a clinch knot to secure the tippet to the ring and a improved clinch to the fly. Sometimes I whip out the Davey knot. Just looked at their website and noticed that their operation is on hold, darn. :oh-noes:

Just remember to wet the fluorocarbon before synching it down.

@Britsnbirds, you're talking about furled leaders. Now I want to get my jig out and build a few. Thanks.

Yea don't know what I was thinking "furled"...............

Thought about building a jig and making my own but they are way to complicated and Em's turn out really great.
