dtrs5kprs Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 The action looks good but a lot of baits do when you run them by the boat like they do. I have seen it. They run the trolling motor on high and let it hang by the boat. Not knocking it but it looks good. Speed is definitely an issue. A lot of swimbaits only work when you really wind them back. Hopefully this one runs on a slow roll.

Very true. That video gives me reason to believe that they will just because it seems like a really soft plastic when Elias has it in his hand and it lays pretty limp. I like the idea of cutting a slit down the back on my current super flukes to see if you could get a similar action.
abkeenan Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Also the bait monkey got me last night. Picked up a Jackall Gantarel after fighting myself for about a week. They are flying off the shelves and the RT Gill color that I wanted is out of stock at TW until JULY 2nd! So I had to go to Ebay. I am such a sucker.

abkeenan Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 That's just great, now you're going to make me go look at these. Grrrrrrr... It's not your every day bait (unless you live in California or are a die hard swimbait chucker) but I really want to start throwing swimbaits more and more targeting bigger fish. This bait is that tool and for it's size, SUPER realistic look and quality that usually comes from Jackall at 39.99 seems like a steal considering prices of other swimbaits. Probably why it's selling so well. $40 is somewhat "affordable" all things considered but this is the most expensive single bait I've ever purchased.
J-Doc Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Y'all are crazy. :-) I've seen fish not take live bait. Can't get any more real than that. It's about presentation and the action that triggers instinctive reactions from the fish. How real it looks is not as relavent. I literally threw a live shrimp to a snook in Florida. Shrimp started squirming. Snook watched. Until it freaked out and started panicking, the snook had no interest in it. Once the pursuit ensued, it became interested. I've seen stripers not take live brooders right I'm front of their noses. If they aren't biting, they aren't biting. You have to find a way to trigger a reaction. That's my take on it. So lifelike baits to me have caught me and my wallet more than they should. Live baiting has taught me a lot. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

mjk86 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Looks way awesome, hopefully they still swim at a much slower retrieve!

Defiantly not buying one, but the HL gill looks very nice. Nice hi-lite coloration.
