Ketchup Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Anyone know of any tin only bass clubs around? With as many fisherman we have in non glass boats, one would think there would be. If not, I may put out a feeler to see if i get enough interest. Myself: I was raised on a farm, been fishing most of my 44 years. I did the glass, tourney thing for a few years, and with family, work, life, ive slowed down to the past 4 boats have been tin boats. Something about the lower cost of the boating experience leaves a bigger smile on my face. Im knowledgeable about the club, tourney, rule format, and dont see why a tin only club, with as many boat companies and fisherman we have in this part of the state, wouldnt do well. Ive done a little research, have a soft copy of rules, lakes, etc. and will see what the interest is. I will be posting a feeler on other sites to test the waters, per se. If you own a tin boat, would be interested in getting away from those in the glass world " nothing against them, as i was one for many years" then leave your thoughts. Kcdangler 1 TinBoats BassClub. Seth Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 There are several river clubs here around home that fish the Osage, Gasconade and Meramec. All of us run aluminum jet boats, but that is out of necessity due to the shallow water conditions.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Can't imagine there would not be some interest. Might run into a lot of small boat or tin boat guys being non boaters in other clubs. I fished with a club in Iowa that was essentially a "dual format" club. We held six tmts per year, half were designated big boat, and half small boat. Big boat lakes were places like Truman, Mississsippi River, Smithville. Small boat lakes were county and state lakes, oxbows. At the beginning of each year a boater could declare which class his boat would be in for the season. If we were short boats for an event we took a vote to exempt a boat for that tmt, usually a boat like my college ride (V17 tracker), so everyone could fish. It was a ton of fun.
Ketchup Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks guys, After talking to a couple of buddies this morning, this looks like a good thing. Format will be the same as any tournament, with the difference being aluminum boats only. We will fish 3 lakes, Table Rock, Pomme, and Stockton, all being fished twice on a rotation. Ive got a few things to kick around, and will post a sketch next week. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
J-Doc Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I need a smiley of the guy chewing popcorn. So I can hang out and see what unfolds. Sounds like a good concept to me. (as a tin owner) It's not a new thing but the problem is, it's probably new to this area due to the size of lakes available. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
dtrs5kprs Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 At times we got around the lake size issue by dividing the bigger lakes. As an example at TR, you could go James River only on Sat, and Kings River only on Sunday.
Ketchup Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 J-Doc, before moving here from Ohio 15 years ago, I along with 2 buddies started a similiar club. We had 7 members at the start, and after the first year, it was over 20 that fished every tourney. Still talk to a few of those guys. I have had a few email today, and several suggestions and ideas. This will be a pretty simple club. No club fees, small tourney entry fees, burgers cooked at each weigh-in, and lots of people to meet to call friends. I will have all of the information next week, and emailed out to those interested. We will have a final tourney at the end that we will have give away goodies for, and a trophy. Guess if i end up being the only member, i can cook my burger the way i want. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Ketchup Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Good idea dtrs... Pomme and Stockton are fairly manageable lakes, even for those with small range motors. As far as TR, i will admit, i will be lost there. Im sure i will start fishing down that way this spring, just for the new challenges. Again, thanks for the input guys. TinBoats BassClub. rps Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 If you put in at Big M, Viney, or at Eagle Rock and specify upstream from there you have a lot of good water, well protected from wind issues, and you avoid most (not all) of the wake boat crap. Ketchup 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I would be in. Dont leave out Bull Shoals. It is a big lake but a lot less busy that TR. No big pleasure boat wakes to speak of Ketchup 1
