Members dmorgan66 Posted March 3, 2015 Members Posted March 3, 2015 A good read and very informational. I don't catch and kill or throw up on the bank to die any fish. Thanks.

BilletHead Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks, Nice article I have always enjoyed catching all species that will put a tug on my fly rod. Rough fish included, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" BilletHead " One thing in life is for sure. If you are careful you can straddle the barbed wire fence but make one mistake and you will be hurting" BilletHead P.S. "May your fences be short or hope you have long legs" BilletHead
Haris122 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I agree, I never got why somebody would toss a perfectly beautiful fish whatever their species, on the shore just cause of some baseless prejudice, not doing anything with it. I still have yet to catch a good chunk of suckers species. I might have got the odd river carpsucker and/or Buffalo of some sort, but that's primarily it. There's still plenty of suckers I want to experience the fight from.
Norm M Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Suckers, buffalo, gar and bowfin are all native fish that are fun to catch . Some of these species have survived on this orb much longer than man has . Fishingmill 1 what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
Seth Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Anybody who wastes a sucker obviously hasn't ate one to know how delicious they are! Scale, fillet, rib, score and deep fry them fresh and you will be hooked! They only reason I rate them slightly behind a walleye or panfish is because of the extra work to scale and score them. grizwilson 1
Smallieguy87 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Great article! I wasn't aware that there are that many species of sucker with most being in North America. I don't see that kind of hate toward sucker where I live however, people around my area feel that way about Gar. Local fishermen will frequently catch them and throw them on the bank or put large sticks in their mouth and throw them back in. It's ignorant and it should be stopped but as the article suggests the focus isn't on preserving these fish.
