Smallieguy87 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I'm glad i'm not the only one who cant really make sense of the bill. I'm still waiting on a reply from my district rep. If i don't hear anything soon i guess i'll have to try his home phone!
fishinwrench Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 When you get ahold of him/her ask them to explain to you exactly what this all means. Dollar says he/she doesn't know either.
Gavin Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 This State rep needs to go earn a meager living someplace else. When is he up for election? Who is the opponent? Viewed his Facebook state page. He is a walking contradiction. Seems to like shooting deer but he hates MDC. Likes Monster Trucks and America too! Seems like this guy has passion but he has no big picture. Does what the farm bureau and big ag tells him to.
Members riverhyker Posted March 8, 2015 Members Posted March 8, 2015 I just saw this email yesterday evening from the Missouri Stream Team Watershed Coalition 3/06/15 I am really surprised that this hasn't made more of a commotion....checked sites that should have had something posted Friday morning and found nothing. I am sending letters stating my feelings about this to everyone on the committee. I plan on starting work early tomorrow morning, @ 5:00 so that I can try to attend if I can nail down a more accurate time today. It only states, "Upon Conclusion of Afternoon Session."...whatever the hell that means. I may be able to get out of here as early as 11:00. I will have 3 extra seats for anyone that may want to go and lives in the Ozark, Highlandville, Nixa and Springfield areas. PM me if you are interested. Issue Alert: NEW Legislation that affects the ability to use Missouri waterways; hearing set for Monday. Dear Orlando,We have received several questions regarding HB 955. Please take some time to review this legislation that will change the way we utilize Missouri waterways. This legislation appears to limit public access to "navigable watercourse" that have been deemed navigable by a Missouri court. This would require citizens desiring to float streams to go to court to have them determined to be "navigable". Please consider voicing your opinion by: Attending the hearing set for MONDAY, March 9, 2015. Contacting your legislator-Look up local legislators here. Chief Grey Bear Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Ron - Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. I don't normally get involved with politics, but like all of us here, the outdoors and stream fishing in particular is very important to me!!! The scariest part of these proposed bills is the fact that my 2 year old son may not get to enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Missouri has to offer. To me that's a tragedy!!! I have emailed 6 elected officials in my area and urge everyone else to try and do the same. Glad you decided to get on board with this. But just as you pointed out, you don't get involved in politics until it affects you personally. And it is sad that people are like that. With the all out, no holds barred, assult on the MDC, we all need to stand united on every issue. Ron has tirelessly kept all of us abreast of the lasted information since he has graciously returned. So its not like we didn't know of all of the attacks on the agency. I told you all a year ago when it started with the deer farms that this was coming and it was dismissed. We almost lost that issue. It was within one vote! We have to rachet up the heat on these legislatures on every attack they wage on the MDC, not just the ones that will affect us personally. rFisherk 1 Chief Grey Bear Living is dangerous to your health Owner Ozark Fishing Expeditions Co-Owner, Chief Executive Product Development Team Jerm Werm Executive Pro Staff Team Agnew Executive Pro Staff Paul Dallas Productions Executive Pro Staff Team Heddon, River Division Chief Primary Consultant Missouri Smallmouth Alliance Executive Vice President Ronnie Moore Outdoors

We have to rachet up the heat on these legislatures on every attack they wage on the MDC, not just the ones that will affect us personally. This is exactly why I don't get involved with politics!!! No matter what you do it's not good enough for someone else. No matter what your view is, it's not the right view to someone else. I'd be the first to tell you that I should be more involved on all issues but I honestly don't have the time or energy to put into political discussions and lobbying. Maybe as I continue to get older that will change. I hope not though! I know way too many unhappy people that spend way too much time focusing on countless political issues. Life is short and it's impossible for every law to be in everyone's favor. You win some and you lose some. That will never change. And isn't it human nature to care most about things that only affect us directly? There's plenty of other issues that affect me that I don't get involved in either. I literally came across this issue yesterday. Ron and Scott were kind enough to post links and draft up an email template. They made it easy for all of us to voice our opinion to our representatives. Honestly had they not done that, I probably would have done nothing like I normally do. Sorry if that makes you sad. You're a much greater American than I am chief

rps Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 There are times when stirring the pot is neither fun nor productive. There are times when pot stirring should be ignored. Oddly, they often coincide. Just sayin'. MOsmallies 1
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 There are times when stirring the pot is neither fun nor productive. There are times when pot stirring should be ignored. Oddly, they often coincide. Just sayin'. I think you're absolutely correct Randy. I am not so much trying to stir the pot as I am trying to raise awareness that any attack on the MDC affects all of us. Not just what pertains to what our personal uses of the outdoors are. Maybe if we had all been on board and expressed our displeasure with the legislators when the Deerfarm ruckus started, they may have perceive that as a "hey we better stay away from this". Instead there was little pushback and we now find ourselves with an all out assault on everything that we love about the outdoors and those that manage it. All I'm saying is we need to remain in solidarity on every issue that the legislators bring up against the MDC! And not cherry pick it to the ones that will affect us personally. We are all in this together and we all stand to lose. fishinwrench Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Yeah well, we were all working together in solidarity when we elected these people. Let's not forget that. MOsmallies 1
