rps Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I did not go out until the fog lifted at nearly 9:00 AM. I fished at the mouth of the HI marina, Haddock Creek, the bank opposite Fletchers, Stubblefield Branch, and Jolmes Creek. 13 bass in the boat with two squeaker keepers. The rest were between 12 and 14 inches. Four on a Rockcrawler and 9 on a PBJ Ned. Picked up a bonus on the Ned as well. 23 inches:
dtrs5kprs Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 What did you think of the Spro bait? Generally, not necessarily as compared to a wart.
rps Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 What did you think of the Spro bait? Generally, not necessarily as compared to a wart. I like it. I did not side by side compare it to a wart, but I thought it worked well and reached maybe 1 or 2 feet deeper than a wart. It is heavier, making longer casts possible, and that is an advantage cranking. All the fish except the walleye came from less than 10 feet of water, even though I routinely fished out to 15 feet with the Ned. The Rockcrawler fish all "just showed up" while grinding the bait on bottom. BTW, the Rockcrawler is as hang free as the wart while grinding.
Bill Babler Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Nice day Randy. Just a bit on the Rock Crawler. The Crawler is about 1/3 larger than the wart, and has a casting system. It will throw about 10 miles further than the wart. It is also a non-tune bait, it works perfect right out of the box. Unlike most of the warts I own that really I have to tune them each time I get them back out. I believe the Crawler is also designed to go 12' deep, which is quite a bit deeper than a wart. Some of the really experienced wart guys will fish a wart in under 55 degree water on 6 pound line to obtain a similar depth. I'm fishing my Rock Crawler on 12 pound Invesx. and feeling really comfortable with depth, action and the ability to unhang it and also fight big fish up shallow in rocks and trees with this setup. Sorry to Jump the Thread. Good Luck. Sac River Jim and Muddy Water 2 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Champ188 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Thanks for the report, Randy. Glad you got your spring break off on the right foot.
Guest Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Gotta admit, I like the castability & dependable aspect. It makes a nice hook rash. The colors are perfect. Hard to buy $10 beater pre raps on eBay when they have to be repainted anyway.
