I'm making my annual pilgrimage to the rock this weekend. Taking wife, kids and daughter In law. Looking for a 2 room cabin or something along those lines. I'd like to fish the Baxter area but I'm open to suggestions. I called one resort and they wanted more than I wanted to spend for 2 nights but I may have to give in and spend the money. I've only been a lurker on the rock thread so far but I'll give some reports on are days on the water this weekend. I've got some of Dave's heads coming and am anxious to try the Ned.

Thanks in advance.

Harpers Valley Resort in Kimberling City might be right up your alley. See link below and tell Nancy and Basil that James/Donna said hi.

Mill Creek Resort or Caboose Junction are two I would throw out there, both are a 5 minute run to Baxter/Little and Big Indian creeks.

The pocket you'll be staying in is a darn good spot. You can start fishing at the Caboose dock and work your way to either point at the entrance and probably catch fish on the Nedster.

Have always thought Caboose would be fun with kids. Maybe if I didn't know where all the light switches are at Schooner...

That's crazy talk, Dave! It's 2 miles or more from Caboose to Schooner Creek or White's Branch. You'd either get lost or run out of boat gas since you probably only buy a couple of gallons for a 2-week stay.

Two miles is kind of a stretch. $20 is about my average for two weeks, gas and oil.

$20 for two weeks? Your trolling motor must be your best friend

Can't catch them when you are on plane. Have gone a week without breaking idle speed. Too many guys like to run for the sake of running. They'd be better off with a motorcycle, and as likely to catch fish.
