Drove into Rogers early this morning to put the wife on a plane to see her mother. When I got back, I went out. I fished a total of 5 hours with modest success. I landed six, of which 3 would have been barely legal. Three others pulled or shook off, including one that was trying to take all my line from me. I did get her close enough to see the flash. She would have been a good kicker fish.

All came on the Rockcrawler in green/red. Fish were on "changes" in bottom in 7 to 10 feet of water. Water temps ranged form 49 in the back of Owl Creek to 52 in the main lake.

Just checked in with some folks who fished around Kimberling on Sat. Had talked with them while they were out, and they were struggling. Pretty much stayed that way.

I have always struggled in the last two weeks of March, unless the brown fish were coming up. Everyone loves March because it is the first chance to get out, and it is a good time to catch big largemouth, but I have always found it to be very inconsistent. Has to be right there with September as my least favorite time to be on the Rock.

I agree about March. I don't know how to fish a jerk bait or where, that leaves me scratching for one here and one there. I fished three baits today and only the crankbait was bit.

Im fighting the same issue at other lakes too.

It seems like the first round of spring weather is fool's gold in terms of fishing.

Once the oaks start to bloom & the dogwoods pop out, its game on.

Even the stickbait can be hit and miss. Late Feb-March 15 or so is a different deal entirely. Can often still find them in cold water places.

I used to come down every 2 weeks, from late Feb into April. After a few years of it, it became clear that something was up in late March. If there was good wind and weather I could catch them in the clear water. If it stayed cold I could catch them up the rivers. Worst was kind of like what we have now...a warm up, but not a big warm up, with generally mild weather.

All I know is there is only three days down in this spring break deal and I see lots of trespassing going on, even if you do live there and me 1hr and 20 minutes away.

Trespass. You say trespass?

I'll have you know Bill Babler has given me a pass as far down lake as Big M, and even sometimes Viney Creek. He only really enforces the no fly zone from Cow Ceek down.

All I'm saying is it's my opinion that anyone fishing the Missouri side owes me some type of compensation. Monetarily, fish fillets, whatever.

We fished for a few hours today and caught 3 nice K's dragging a Zoom Critter Craw in GP Purple. We lost a few when my 4 year old Grandson was helping but it was worth it. I wish I had thought to bring my phone and video him trying to swing a feisty K into the boat

It was a Great day

Dang, 5bites and rps should I be paying a toll fee or surcharge when I cross the state line to fish with Randy?

LOL
