Quillback Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Before the latest rain event, I spent a day fishing with Huntest. We were talking about how much fun it is catching Table Rock bass on light spinning tackle fishing the Ned. I remarked to Huntest that I would never have fished the Ned if it wasn't for Dave being so persistent to me about what a great way it is to catch fish. We both agreed we owed Dave a thanks for enlightening us. Thanks Dave. My biggest LM so far this year (6.25 lbs.) came on a Ned, personal best Mean (3.5 lbs.) and the years best walleye (4lbs.) all came on a Ned. Netted a 5.5 LM for my buddy John earlier this year that ate a Ned. Catching a big one every once in a while is certainly fun, but catching a bunch of spotted bass on light tackle is a hoot also, I just enjoy the heck out of it. I realize that Dave didn't invent the Ned (Ned rig to me is a mushroom head or similar, tipped with half a Zinker), but he sure has provided a lot of info and help. Time to go, I'm waiting for the fog to burn off. Thanks again Dave! Daryk Campbell Sr, Sac River Jim, Ham and 5 others 8
Champ188 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Nice post and fully agreed. Dave knows his stuff. Hope you get em today.
huntest Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I would like to echo what Quill and Champ are saying. Dave has really helped me catch more fish. It is going to be tough this spring deciding when NOT to use the Ned vs. other good alternatives. Setting the hook on a solid keeper on ML spinning gear is my idea of a great way to spend the day! Members CadeWompus Posted March 31, 2015 Members Posted March 31, 2015 Besides the Ned, Dave willingly offered up useful tips and information to help me with my recent tournament without being asked. It was much appreciated.
Macsimus Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Well said Quill. Couldn't agree more! "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
Smallieguy87 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 He's been great in answering all my questions regarding the Ned rig even took the time to send me photos of the heads he makes and how he likes to fish them! A gentlemen and a scholar if i do say so!
fishingaddiction Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 +1 to all the above. Keep up the good work Super Dave! Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Members basscatfan Posted March 31, 2015 Members Posted March 31, 2015 I'll agree with all that. I got some heads from him with gammy hooks and it was amazing how easy it was to bury the hook in a fish even while using light tackle.
jolicious Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Mr. Dave is also pretty good about helping decide which colors to paint baits (but we'll just keep that between all of us lol!!)
Sac River Jim Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 i fully agree with you quill. i started fishing it on Stockton last year and really didnt know how to fish it till i started following Daves posts. i havent caught anything over 3.5lbs on it but ive caught good solid keepers that more than once have put me in the money. The hardest thing I've had to train myself on wasnt as much slowing down but not having constant contact with the bait drives me bonkers. But i force myself to dead stick it on slack line or throw it across the wind and leave the slack in the line. Thanks Dave for all your help!!!
