Fish moved around a bit for me Wednesday. The place where we caught the better fish on Tuesday lost 3 degrees of temp from the mouth to the very back. Odd for a big creek. Fish were still there, but touchy and off beds. Lot of them moved off the bank into deep wood. I was not much into that in the rain.

Went to some flatter mixed rock and gravel, temps 58-59 on both graphs. Ran into an outbreak of SSS. Stupid Smallmouth Syndrome. Bunches of brown fish up in 6'-10' on places where big rocks mixed in.

When they get like that, the 1/16 head on the Ned will rule the day, and it did. Ended with 30 fish, 9 keepers. No big fish, but did have a nice 18" buck brownie with a tail just starting to bleed.

Will get pics up when I get a chance.

Also had the very great pleasure of dining with Macsimus down in Lampe. Just another excellent member here on the forum. Great bunch of people, hope folks appreciate just how special this forum is.

The rain seemed to slow my morning as well. I went looking for LMB in dirty water and found neither dirty water nor LMB. I wanted to show the guy that that taught me the Zig Jig how the Ned rig works. Misson accomplished ! Never caught a fish in the rain. Started picking up Spotted Bass back up the creek, but rain out to main lake area and started picking up better smallies.

Numerous solid Smallies. Fat. Eating well and growing eggs.

Found the gizzard shad spawn. I could not get any to bite though. I had a few follows and nips, but no gizzard shap to my credit.

Amen. A grain of wheat amidst a whole lot of internet chaff.
