Quillback Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Great report Quill and nice Sand Shark. Did it fight? Like a wet sock.
Ham Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Like a wet sock. I keep reading that, but I don't get it. Drop on down to Bull and pull on a 26 incher for a while and honestly try to drop that wet sock line. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 I'm sure a 26" walleye can pull like a freight train. But for fighting ability, I'd rather hook a 26" carp, and imagine a 26" smallie! But for table fare, I'll take a walleye.
Ham Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I certainly agree they don't pull like a smallie, but they let you know they aren't happy. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Macsimus Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Like a wet sock. Lol. I agree that gravel lizards fight but being from a place where the vast majority of anglers are insane on them, it's kind of fun to disrespect them a little. On the other hand as already noted, there is no finer shore lunch. I remember watching an All American on Lake Hamilton quite a few years ago, maybe 2000 or 2001. Jeff Coble from North Carolina who eventually won the thing, had a camera guy in the boat and they were showing him reeling in a fish. Coble cranked the fish to the surface, saw that it was a walleye and turned to the camera and said, "yep...I thought so...felt just like a deesh rag." Totally unexpected and pretty hilarious at the time! "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
dtrs5kprs Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Wet sock is generous. So happy that is our "bonus" fish, instead of extra bass or crappie. You know, the actual destination species for the lake.
