J-Doc Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I just think the lake is a better bass lake than people think and it gets insulted because people can't learn to fish offshore structure. I'm not a great bass angler. So I discredit myself and cannot show proof or personal documentation but I have personally seen several 6-7lb fish caught recently and in recent years. There plenty of them but they are very hard to catch. The fishing pressure has to have a very negative impact on this lake. I don't have proof of it but my gut tells me it does as much as other's instincts blame stripers as the reason. Funny thing is, stripers exist in some of the top big bass lakes in the country so in my mind, they are not the reason. I used to think this but I'm thinking it's other things. I'll keep fishing Beaver and I love the lake. I call it home. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Jerry Rapp Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 when FLW and BASS visit other venues it usually takes 80lbs to 100lbs to win. Throw out the Delaware and Sabine Rivers. Beaver is on the FLW schedule for one reason only. It is what it is. Beaver has historically produced small bass. If there was an abundance of big ones, someone would figure them out in FLW.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Jerry you would be amazed how many big bass actually get caught. I see a lot of pictures and fish in person but for the most part it is everyday Joe's who don't care about tournaments or the internet forums for posting. But they catch them pretty regularly and you want to see monsters you should see what eats a 10'' shad the striper guides get a lot of monster bass.... They are in the lake but they are offshore. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

I know you guys keep saying this, maybe a swim bait guy will figure it out this weekend. It would be neat to see 75 or 80lbs to win and open some eye's to your lake's potential.
Stump bumper Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 I will always go back to the day I was in Prairie creek looking for stripers in out in the middle with a jerk bait and every swirl I threw at was a 6lb or better black. There was a bass tournament going on and a boat came over to watch me weigh and release a 7lb fish then asked to see my jerk bait. After tying on the same jerk bait they returned to the shoreline while I continued to catch surfing fish in the center even though I offered them the water. fisherofmen11 and J-Doc 2
J-Doc Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 If they'd throw it off the bank, follow the stripers, they might. :-). The bigger bass roam around with the stripers eating same food source. (My theory anyway) My best bass on Beaver have been trolling over 40ft of water and fishing live bait at night for crappie. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. If not on a bed, close to moving up?
1969Larson Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 When people say "great fishery" or "poor fishery" I think they mean "easy fishery" or "challenging fishery." Correct? J-Doc 1
Feathers and Fins Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 They are on beds, Others are just off the beds. The same Pattern today that is so prevalent on the lake repeated itself again. Windy days go to the lee side of a point. Wind was East today I was on the West of a point and had no problem catching bass. 8 to 14 ft of water. I did not pound the bank which is what I saw most guys doing, I think most people who fish this lake know Wind = Points = Bass. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Feathers and Fins Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Larson to me its a very challenging lake but I'm probably a better word than Poor. But when you can figure out a sustained pattern she is awesome. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
