slab slinger Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 You grub guys need to try the Strike King Rage Tail crappie grubs. They are awsome. Great colors and the tail actually thumps when retrieved. Not as good on 32nd heads as kalins and super slow retreaves. They do have a bigger profile and man they are great on big slabs. When the fish get aggressive i switch from kalins to these and do great. Not doggin kalins at all, i use them when the fish are not as aggressive. Just something else new to try if interested. Got some strollers that jim turned me onto haven't fished them yet but good looking bait. The only thing i have against Bobby Garland baits is there 2 solft. Ust like Zoom. But they are cheap enough doesn't really bother me 2 bad i guess. Guys who like tubes try the Mid South Super Jigs in Chart Glow. My go-to tube on Stockton. Thanks for reading. Good luck guys. Members Bream Posted April 28, 2015 Members Posted April 28, 2015 Look for spawning coves with gravel banks. What makes up a spawning cove? What should I be looking for? I think I've found a bunch of non-spawning coves! LOL
Aggressor1988long Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Pretty much a cove with gravel banks. At about 15 feet at the deepest at the middle of the cove there are several around cedar ridge. What makes up a spawning cove? What should I be looking for? Aggressor1988long Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Big slabs are going on shiners right now on the bottom. Pretty much in the middle of the coves. Done caught some like that shiners have more flash than crappie minnows.
Members crappiecatchingbrad Posted April 28, 2015 Members Posted April 28, 2015 Thanks. Me and wife found some a good fishing spot last year and ended up with boats surrounding us asking us if we where ever going to move. It was hard to leave but I finally got tired it and left the cove. 3 boats hit each other trying to get in that spot. Last time I went to Aldrich. I always try to find a place that's not crowded but have a hard time finding fish.
mjk86 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Anyone ever use keitech swing impact 2 inch dor crappie? I find that no other swimmin minnow swims at slow speeds like those. The only problem is the two inchers dont come in many colors and they are all natural. I do best with the bluegill color tipped with a nibble in dirty water and by itself ib clear. Sac River Jim 1

DADAKOTA Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 So folks just charge in and start fishing the crappie you have found? WOW. Do most of my crappie fishing at LOZ and can honestly say I have never had someone do that. I have had folks jump ahead of me on a bank, but most of them have no clue where the sweet spots are. Are you just fishing a general area or a specific spot?

Are you just fishing a general area or a specific spot? It's mostly a behavioral trait of Yankees. Folks from KC and the Lou are my guesses. Either that or Kansans and Iowans. BilletHead 1
DADAKOTA Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Anyone else you care to offend? I was raised in St. Louis and have lived in KC area since 1986. I don't crowd in on others as I find my own fish. Guess I'm a yank too being born in WI. My guess is these folks may not have the ability or talent to find fish on their own regardless of where they are from and have no manners or common courtesy.
