Quillback Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Last time out I picked up a couple vertical fishing the Ned. Seems to get me a few every time out. Usually the boat is sitting in 20-30 FOW and I'll see the sonar showing a fish or two near the bottom. I'll drop the Ned, let it hit bottom, and gently shake it. Sometimes it takes them a minute or so to come over and get it, but it works. I'm interested to see how this will do once the fish get out deep in the summer, might be a good thing to have along side the drop-shot. Muddy Water and magicwormman 2
dtrs5kprs Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 It works. I have a place or two we do it for goggleye, and usually end up catching some nice K's as well. Vertically, it is about like dropping the old stingray grub at them, but with the benefits of elaztech. fisherofmen11 and magicwormman 2

Donna G Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 QB, I've caught a few doing that exact thing. Pretty handy when you're not fishing vertically on a given day, but run across some bottom huggers on your graph. magicwormman 1 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
dtrs5kprs Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Versatility is its name. It will also catch fish popping bait about as fast as you can get it on them.
Donna G Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Huh. Just throw it in the middle of 'em and let it sink? Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
dtrs5kprs Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Huh. Just throw it in the middle of 'em and let it sink? Yes indeed. If one doesn't have it by a five count or so, just start swim/shaking it back. Have caught some nice largemouth that way when they are chasing. Kind of an accidental find. Had it in hand and just threw it rather than stop to pick up a grub or swimbait. magicwormman 1
Donna G Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I'll give it a whirl. BTW. I was getting bit more than Champ on the Ned yesterday afternoon and then he noticed he had given me a 1/16th head and he had the bigger one. magicwormman 1 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915
bfishn Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 One day 'bout a year ago I slung a handful of them out into the woods behind my house, in frustration after super-gluing the fingers of my left hand together. I was out there the other day, messing around waiting for my 'shroom-hunting buddy to arrive, and heard some rustling in the dead leaves. I kicked aside the detritus, and lo and behold, there were dozens of the wiggly little buggers emerging from the topsoil. They weren't all PBJ like the parents either, but nearly every color of the rainbow. Genedic diversity? Next up. Neds under big, red & white, plastic bobbers. I can't dance like I used to.
Donna G Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Why not? . It'd be a twist on the float-and-fly. I'm personally considering testing Sea-Foam denture adhesive pads instead of the glue. You trim them to fit anyway. (Poor Champ and that glue fight.) The adhesive is meant to work while eating and drinking. Maybe it will work for dunking, too.
