Ham Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Been tweaking my gear. Bought some New Spooks. Put split rings on their noses. Swapped out hooks on some other top water plugs. Gonna put full spools of fresh line on my reels. I am so gonna get me some top water bass soon. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Al Agnew Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 It's been hit and miss on the rivers so far, with more misses than hits, but some fast action when they turn on. It only gets better and better from now until sometime in the autumn, though.
Ham Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Over the last 7 years, my best creek fishing is July thru October. I love my creek trips, but I know what lies ahead so I dont give up on the lakes too early. To everything a season. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Ham Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 I know Man I know. It will be gnawing away at my mind to throw the lure that Shall Not be named. If 20 minutes goes by without a fish I wil throw Lure X until i catch 2 or 3 and then I'll pick the hard bait up again. 5-7-15 Daylight to dark. Somewhere on BSL. Gonna happen (I hope). Pepe Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 I have been using a line called iron athlete for the last several years and I'm very impressed with it. It is a floating mono and is a bright yellow color though I have no idea why they made it that color. It does not absorb water and always floats on top
Ham Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 I spooled a rod up with SIlver Thread in 10 lb. It's a pretty decent co-poly. I've used it for years and have no complaints. I'll throw LC Kelly J''s with it or Pop R's or maybe Zara Puppy's. I have a little longer and stronger rod spooled with 14 lb ST that I will throw Super Spook Jr's. I have a bbefier rod yet that I will throw Full sized Spooks or Super Spooks or big wake baits with. All three of those will be on the deck all the time. mixermarkb Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Ham, I'm sure it's probably on right now. Bull was too far, so I drug the red champ out to LOZ today. I fished 9ish to 6ish, and caught the snot out of them on top. Get out there when you can!
Ham Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 I fished today from just after daylight to right at dark. I caught 72 bass. Fishing top water as much as I did held my numbers down. I got fish on multiple Super Spook Jrs, a Sammy 100, Lucky Craft KJ, and Sluggos. I had a lot of blow ups where the fish seemed to miss on purpose. Some of the hits were savage though. It was great. joeD Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 How would you have placed in a tournament, weight wise? Of your 72 fish, your top five would have weighed how much? I've been invited to participate in a tournament as a guest. Gathering info.
