joeD Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Picture from yesterday around Steelville. Fish were biting and pretty aggressive. Topwater action deluxe. Other lures were effective also. Just one of those days when you hit it right. I spent the day with two old friends that I haven't fished with in ages, so, it was very satisfying to see them have a great day too. Terrierman Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Nice fish man. I'm still trying to figure out what you're setting on though.
joeD Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Hard to describe. I've been told it's a prototype from years past of a duck boat. I'm sitting on cushions on the back deck. There are two people in front of me sitting on 5ft 2x10s. It's jon boat material, 4 foot wide in the middle, coming to a bow with small deck in front. You can stand and fish from it. In low water, it sticks on anything. But it is a barge, and just about unflippable in the water. Ugliest thing you've ever seen. But, on that stretch of the Meramec, it's actually great to fish out of. Surprised no one asked sooner Terrierman. Terrierman 1
Terrierman Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Who doesn't like a big wide long comfortable boat? Sounds nice. What kind of propulsion? Kcdangler 1
joeD Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 Propulsion? Propulsion! It's me, usually with a kayak paddle. Although boat does have a motor mount in back. Sorry." propulsion" is giving me too much credit. Friends and clients are always puzzled why they don't catch fish on gravel bars, since that's the direction they're always facing! (No no, don't worry, just let me cast in there one more time). Drifting, me steering and paddling and adjusting. Fairly easy surprisingly.
Terrierman Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Paddle propulsion counts. Not being in a hurry is important if you ask me.
