Hammer time Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Put in 7pm h2o temp 66.74 that in mind started on main lake points. C- rig lizard in 8-15fow had 7 brownies with 3 keeps and a 18in eye first eye I've ever caught in the dam area and on the lizard blew me away. After dark same type banks with homemade 1/2oz black/purple football jig with black/blue 5in twin tail grub. Brownies were eating big time caught over 25 but only 4 keeps. Odd thing was never caught a black and only 2 short spots. Loaded up 1:30. Tight lines Champ188, magicwormman, Muddy Water and 2 others 5
m&m Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Nice Pics. aggressive bites on both the C-rig and the jig? Mike
Quillback Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Thanks for the report, that's some good fishing. Bass Enforcer 1
merc1997 Bo Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 blacks in the dam area have been very scarce for a number of years now. they have never repopulated much to speak of after the fish kill. they are starting to show up a little more, but the dam area, at least for me, still is more of a brownie kentucky area. sure can not depend of the blacks you need to fish a tournament. bo magicwormman and Hammer time 2
Alex Heitman Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Bo I think there are a lot of Blacks in the dam area. I catch quite a few and target them regularly. They are just very smart and more skiddish with the ultra clear water. My biggest LM from Table Rock have always come close to the dam. You may be right about not being as many as before. I wouldn't know since that's before I really fished the lake a lot. I do think it is bouncing back though and lots of quality LM are showing up. Hammer time 1
Hammer time Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Merc 1997, I agree with you since the fish kill I catch them pre-spawn and in the fall when they move up other than that a few here and there day fishing. I night fish the dam area tons because of the largest population of brownies and most nights pic up a few that move up to feed. I believe the spawn is over and the blacks are deep in the dam area but will feed up soon. I should start catching a few a night soon. magicwormman 1

There was always some beliefs the Black's were outgunned by Kentucky's and Brown's for food. Look at your streams and rivers, you can hardly find a LM there anyone and a ton of small mouth. bo Hammer time 1
Hammer time Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Merc 1997 you and I are the same page, yesterday years holes for huge blacks in the dam area are now brownie dominant. magicwormman 1
