Old plug Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I read on another forum about a dock owner (not here) yelling at fishermen and threatening them when they cast near his dock. He was going to install motion activated water sprinklers. The thread ended without stating a resolution. Well if it is the same one that was down in a cove avout the 13 mile marker. He did it. The MDC put him straight made him remove it and not interfer with and fisherman. Before that happened I was plotting to go over there amd shoot shoot that darn sprinkler off there. Ge came down there one time fiving me a hard time and I called him a lot of filthy names and invited him to come closer. He never did. I was mad enough to pitch a plug at him and set the hook.
jeb Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 The skiers & boaters in that area of PC dont give a dam, they will run right beside you, repeatedly. No doubt. Very inconsiderate folks, as a group. It's hard to believe there are not restrictions on where those boats can be used. They are manf'd to produce the largest wake they can, and that is just hard on shorelines. I was catching fish around a bunch of brushpiles in front of the gravel flat "boatramp" at Old Prairie Creek Rd. We call that the Redneck Rivera! That's at the bottom of the hill I live on, and it's where I launch quite often. Not much of it left right now, with the water up as high as it is. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Feathers and Fins Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 The Corps should make the entire PC cove west of the marina a no wake zone IMO. LMAO, first I would like to see them enforce the NO WAKE ZONE between the Buoys in Prairie Creek. I honestly do not understand and anyone with more knowledge than me correct me here. But how are "wake boats" even allowed on the water? By there design and definition they are designed to put out a massive wake that can and has swamped other boaters, disturbed other people by the wake and loud music and creates erosion by the wake. Each of those are directly against either AGFC, ACE or Federal boating laws. So in simple thought as soon as they take on the Ballast and crank up the radio they have violated some law or code at least if they are in one of the narrow coves. If they are going to allow these boats which I wouldn't have a problem with then have a designated zone for them where the wakes do no damage to dock owners other boaters or shoreline's https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Guest Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Every cove on Tenkiller is no wake at least partially. None of this running wide open in the back of the coves. The mainlake is a mad house as a result, but it makes for a pleasant fishing experience in the coves.
Sore Thumbs Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Grand Lake has no wake zones on most of their big coves and back ends of creeks. Be glad it's not like that.
Sore Thumbs Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Nothing better than catching a fish on a dock while someone is harassing you.
Quillback Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Grand is the worst during the summer, Beaver is Golden Pond compared to it.
Sore Thumbs Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 What lake was it where people were intentionally damaging stuff on their docks and blaming fisherman to get rules changed? Anyone heard this?
Feathers and Fins Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 With the Battleships that are on Grand is it really any surprise they had implement that rule? Beaver is getting there some now and it will probably happen if something less drastic is not done first. To me logically simply making designated wake-boating and Water skiing areas is since able and the least intrusive solution but then again so would simply enforcing the No Wake Zones and Responsibility for your wake law and hey a novel concept RUNNING LIGHTS AFTER DARK LAW. I am all for people enjoying the lake but some simple common since rules and enforcement of rules would go a LONG way to making the lake pleasant for everyone. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
