bass tournament on meramec tomorrow. Not sure if I heard this right. The bass all get weighed in at steelville and released there. No matter where you caught them on the meramec. Not sure I'm liking all that. Enlighten me someone The last thing I want to do is catch the biggest fish I can and drive a hour or so to steelville and give em to all them dudes.

Upper Meramec Invitational... Happens every year... I also HATE the format. Nothing like putting a bunch of 15-20" fish in a small easily accessible area. Stupid and detrimental to the big fish population on the Meramec!!!

I know a few guys on here fish it and are stand up guys who really do care about the river... But this just seems wrong to me! I'm not a fan of the weigh-in tournaments on any of our Ozark rivers. They are to fragile for this!

The river is rising down here and getting dirty so maybe everyone will play it safe and fish close to weigh in spot where it's clean. Local rain is hosing up the river fast here.

Been going on since 1989 I believe; which is before most of us-with the exception of Al-were even fishing the Meramec. Therefore any and all talk about how detrimental this once a year tournament is to the overall fishery is purely speculation.

I see your point but it's definitely not helping the fishery... There are nice fish caught out of the Meramec every year so I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it.

This only my second year fishing it. All I can say is I had a fun time last year, even with the raging mud we had to fish in. Aside from this tournament, I don't fish the Meramec so I am really looking forward to trying some different waters.

I drove over the meramac in steelville this morning on my way to float fish the courtois. It was pretty muddy looking.

Winner had 14 pounds of nothing but smallmouth. Second had 12 something with only three fish. They also took big LMB and SMB with a 5 something LMB and a 3.80 SMB. We ended up getting 5th with 10.43 with a 4.86 kicker LMB. Tenth place was in the mid 8's. The guys that put in way up river got flooded out. Fishing wasn't great. but a few figured them out and there were some toads caught.
