fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Out of curiosity what are the exceptions as I didnt see any listed. LOL, the exception is that YES You Can cull, if.....
Quillback Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Here's your exception: "However, under certain conditions, anglers fishing in tournaments can continue to fish if they stop one fish short of a limit and release a living fish from their live well before replacing it with a fish they just caught. This allows them to trade up, replacing one fish with a larger one." And then this: "However, if you are fishing in a tournament in which the limit is five bass, and you have five bass in the live well, you can replace one fish, one time."
MOPanfisher Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Maybe we are reading different regs. But it say from July 1 thru Aug 31 no one may cull, which it goes on to say again that it applies to tournament anglers also. Certainly not gonna say I didn't miss something but seems pretty clear, that it applies to all whether tournament, sport or meat anglers.
Quillback Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I don't know what they are trying to say, but from the news release posted by the OP, they seem to be saying that in a 5 bass tournament, you can cull one time, if you never put more than 5 bass in the livewell, from July through August.
MOPanfisher Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I not smart enough to cut and paste from my phone. But says That tournament bass anglers may cull bass from Sept through june. July and August are the months the no culling rule applies. I fully agree that it was a poorly written article. Culling is only allowed for tournaments and if one fish under the 6 fish limit is kept in the livewell, as soon as a sixth one is added you are done, regardless of the month. At least that is what I think it is supposed to say. We could consume several cold barley pops while trying to figure it out though.
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I like this part too The rule also heightens tournament anglers awareness of the factors that influence fish mortality. How do WE go about heightening THEIR awareness concerning fish mortality ? All attempts seem to fail.
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 So just don't put them in a "live well", drag them alongside the boat on a rope.
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Just for the record....I fully understand the culling rule, but here's the reality of it: There ain't that much culling going on, especially during July and August, so their focus should be directed more towards things that actually matter, and that they CAN enforce.
MOPanfisher Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Much as I like arguing I can't disagree with that. I believe the culling rule was nothing more than a bone thrown to tournament fishing. I have never heard of it being enforced. And you know as well as I do that the one and done rule isn't going to stop anyone from culling a second time.
dprice Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 One thought to be considered. Is. A 12 fish limit between both anglers. I see people argue all the time on if a fish is expired or living. I trust myself. Dprice priceheatingair.comĀ
