changed prop on my boat, and wanted to run it a bit, so I headed out to my nearest lake which is Big Hill. Ran the boat for a bit, and couldn't resist making a few casts, so I picked up the rod which had a chart/brown laminate ned on it, and proceeded to catch two smallies, six largemouths, a crappie, and two channels from one windy point! This took place in a half hour or so. I know its not TR, but thought yall might find it as amusing as I did. tight lines.

Very cool, Okie. Just more proof that the little guy is one fish-catching bait.

Well, since Ned is from KS I guess it shouldn't be too surprising :have-a-nice-day: We caught a few dozen Kansas smallies and a couple whites on the Ned Monday.

The ned rig doesn't work on kansas lakes, which are inferior in every way to missouri lakes. Shhhhh. Fish in Missouri. ....

There are inferior in these ways...

No places to stay.

Not a blessed thing to block the wind.

Otherwise they are full of fish, especially brown ones. But hey, that is partly because they actually stock bass in KS.

Oh, one more thing...you drive too fast, LOL. Takes me longer to get to some of those spots from LV because of how long it takes to get to 70 or 35.

Kansans have a gentleman named Leonard Jirak to thank for a lot of the fisheries we have available. The MO folks could learn a lot from him.

More along the line of actually stocking fish, not taking the "wait for nature to sort it out" approach on species like bass and crappie. There are lakes in KS just full of fish because of his efforts.

Although, his catfish feeding program was pretty cool too. Messy though if you were close to one when it went off. We used to flip worms at the base of the feeders in one lake close to KC. Think they attracted perch, and thus bass.

I'm not aware of any public lake in MO that is even close to running short of any native species.

And there is a monumentally huge difference in the fishing pressure in KS and MO.

But is it really fair to compare the two? Small, overly stocked, over fed lakes that sound really like a Mississippi catfish farm to huge reservoirs that have a multitude of functions?
