We launched at 6am. Started on the flat next to HWY 13 and fished all the way to past the big boat docks. No TW bite at all. Started catching them on the pbj and CA craw Ned 1/8 head. Got into a mess of them at the back corner of one of the docks. Caught SM & KY spotted bass. Wound up with 22 but only 2 keepers. Went around the point and saw beds behind the next set of docks. Threw a frog from far away and saw 5 nice keepers both SM & KY chase but no takers. Threw the Ned and the smaller ones got to it first.

Took out at 9. All in all it was a good morning until I broke my spinning reel setting the hook. The reel part that attaches to the rod broke in ttwo. Here I am with my rod under my arm, and reeling in a keeper SM with the reel in my hand and turning the handle with the other hand. I couldn't stop laughing. But at least now I know what my Father's Day gift will be. Lol

Bill Richey showed me a reel that did the same thing last week. Had a couple folks out and the foot broke when the little girl had a fish on. Gave him some JB weld and he fixed it with that. Said it was an Okuma.

Thx dave, I'll give the JB weld a try. That keeper wouldn't let go of one of your jig heads no matter how much time I gave him. :)

Mike,

Good to see you are now catching all of Dave's pets and leaving mine around the dam alone. Nice report and it validates what Bo was saying in that there are still some fish that haven't spawned and are on beds here mid-June. Biggest fish my family has ever taken out of Table Rock was over 8.5lbs and was caught first week of June still full of eggs. So some are always late to the party.

We definitely caught spawning blacks last week. Classic spawn behavior and places. More used to late brown fish though. Have caught them in the act, literally, in mid to late June.

Mike...might try some of the flat stuff that is less flat, if that makes sense. Places that have the 60'-80' of water close by. Those are loaded up with fish out to 25' or so.

What kind of reel was it. I have had two Lews reels do that to me. the boys at sportsman factory outlet made things right.

It was a Shakespeare that I won as an attendance prize in a BNSF railroader's tourney about 5 years ago. My birthday and Father's Day are both this weekend so I will replace it.

We saw bass on beds behind a few other docks also. I agree that bass spawn over a long period of time and certainly into June.

This forum is so educational.
