5bites Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Not much to report really. I was told to throw a deep crankbait so I did. I've been wanting to learn this for a long time so Saturday was my start. Usually I throw it a few times and then pick up a football jig. Well Saturday I pretty much stayed on the crankbait all day other than pitching a few trees. It was work and we lost a few but what we caught was solid.
5bites Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Carter even worked on it pretty much all day. He got the first one in the boat too throwing the dt16 in the pic. Then later this fat tagged kentucky. One of mine. As always I'm not easy to look at. Focus on the four pounder.
Quillback Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Good fish - I always hear that Grand is a good crank bait bite. I have an Edwin Evers video that shows him throwing cranks on Grand. Pretty much the same results you guys had - he didn't catch a lot of fish, but the ones he caught were quality.
fishinwrench Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Nice work! I tried some deep crankin' on LO the other day but they didn't wanna chase it. It's always a September thing for me.

There was a better bite on it to be had but I'm a newb at it so it was progress anyway. Are they not stacking up on points and ledges at loz by now? The September part is surprising to me.

If there's any "stacking up" going on I'm not hip to it, but there is ONE good fish on just about every 12-15' brushpile now. By September they are tired of looking at worms and jigs I think, and more in a mood to crush a crankbait if it bumps the cover they are in. A DD-22 in September is as dependable as a Wiggle-Wart bite in April. It'll get the bigguns.
Quillback Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 A bass pro video? No, it's some fishing show that was out a few years ago. If you want to watch it, PM me your address and I'll send it to you. (If I can find it). 5bites 1
Ketchup Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Good fish. I threw a deep crank at Fork a week ago with no luck. Those things will wear a feller out. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
