Checking hours on motor

I have an 2008 Merc 4 stroke i was wanting to get the hours checked, does anyone know where i can get this done around springfield.

I call Sport Boats USA last week and they said it would be $50. Then today when i was getting ready to bring it in they said it would be 1 hour worth of labor $99. Kinda pissed me off. I understand they need to make a little but $99 to plug a computer into it is redic

What size is the motor? Not all 2008 models retain that info.

As to the fee... You don't just plug in, get the hours, and be done. You boot it up and make a print out of all stored info. You get charged at least 0.8hr. or it isn't worth their time to do it.

Its a 60hp

It would have to be a 2007 if it's a 60.

Not sure about the data recovery but I kinda doubt it. Are you buying or selling?

selling, on the little badge on the motor it says June of 2007. But its titled as a 2008

It's actually a package deal it's on a tracker. Everyone that calls about it wants to know the hours on it

Those are just folks that don't know what else to ask. Even if you spouted off a number they wouldn't believe you. Just tell them that you're not sure and offer to take them on a test run if they are truly interested.
