5bites Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 I threw a dt16 this afternoon/evening. Caught one small walleye and a sub legal bass. Still trying to figure this out. Gone try deeper tomorrow. There is so much bait suspended on flats it's crazy. One fish I caught this afternoon out of brush puked up a 3-4" shad. I hope they move into the wood more. I'll check again tomorrow to keep them honest.
Sore Thumbs Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Try fishing the old bank line. Beaver went way up and they were in the 16-20ft range where the bank was before the flooding. Champ188, dtrs5kprs and techo 3
Champ188 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Try fishing the old bank line. Beaver went way up and they were in the 16-20ft range where the bank was before the flooding. This is never bad advice in flood conditions. techo 1
Sore Thumbs Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Also try some main lake cuts the. Throw a shakey head or Ned right down the middle in that 15-20 range. I bet you will pick some up that way. Champ188 1
merc1997 Bo Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 pretty typical until there is some stabilization in the water. bass are bass, and there will be some move up fairly shallow in that colored water. you and champ both showed to try a variety of presentations. too many get into a rut of fishing the same thing all the time. even switching up your speed can make a huge difference. bo Champ188 1
Sore Thumbs Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 They are probably shallow too but it so much work it's almost not worth it. You might get a fish every couple hours.
Members htower25 Posted July 12, 2015 Members Posted July 12, 2015 For me the deep bite is better right now. There are always hungry fish on bluffs and steep chunck rock, you just have to find some less dirty water. And fishing the old bank line is a great idea
5bites Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I don't have much to say so this meme pretty much sums up my fishing this weekend.
rps Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 I don't have much to say so this meme pretty much sums up my fishing this weekend. I am sorry it did not get better for you. I will go out again Monday, hoping the reduction in boats and time have helped a pattern develop.
5bites Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 If everything would have got in the boat it would have been substantially better but still slow. We lost several topwater fish. I fished a lot of water I've never messed with. Just stuff I found idling. The cool part is I found some foundations and brush piles. I just spent to much time messing around and not enough time fishing confidence areas. Today I noticed something kinda odd. Most places I went there was a backward current. I thought it was eddying at first but the places didn't seem like the right locations for it. It was very strong also. Maybe it was just eddying after all.
