Members Ken Drish Posted July 13, 2015 Members Posted July 13, 2015 Fished all of last weekend - early mornings and late afternoon/evening. I have personally never seen it so high. Thursday night I had nothing in Leatherwood - fished for just about an hour, but the water was like chocolate milk. Friday was the best day. Got about 6 - 3 on a frog - Spro Popping Frog and Snag Proof in brown/chartreuse. 3 on a 9' diving Spro Crankbait. Saturday morning I had to wade through about 3' of water just to get to my slip at Holiday Island! The water was still rising and fast. I only got two - one on the frog in the morning and then a smallie in the afternoon on a Boo Yah Spinnerbait. By the afternoon they closed the walkway and were ferrying people to their cars from the Marina. I thought I'd kill them on Sunday with a frog or topwater in the bushes... couldn't have been farther from the truth. Ended up with a tine white bass on a spook and a keep spot on a large spoon next to a dock. I would've had better luck trying to catch snakes, which are everywhere! Well, I think it finally crested at 928... looking forward to it coming back down and stabilizing a bit. Muddy Water 1
5bites Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Good report. From the sounds of it I wasn't alone in my struggles this weekend. Just curious, what boat were you in?
5bites Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I saw you running around some a few times over the weekend. It was definitely a tough weekend. For me anyway.
fowlthing Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Was equally tough for me. Very slow and a lot of ski boats and jet skis to contend with
96 CHAMP Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 good report , it is amazing how much water we have had this year, glad it finally stopped
Champ188 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Don't forget, we had some awful flooding 2-3 years ago in August. Tore the crap out of some of the golf courses here in Bella Vista.
Sore Thumbs Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Quick rise has them jacked up. I tried same thing at Beaver and struck out. Either they aren't shallow or there is so much cover to try and fish they are just unreachable. My guess is the latter.
Alex Heitman Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Thanks for the report. I think the rise this big just scatters them everywhere. So much more lake for them to hide in. Just put the trolling motor down on high and is what it sounds like. Codywskeeter1521 1
