Members Kansasfly09 Posted July 14, 2015 Members Posted July 14, 2015 Coming down this Friday and fishing until Sunday. Is there any place at all that I would be able to wade?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 14, 2015 Root Admin Posted July 14, 2015 Just close to the outlets. We're at flood stage.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Barely enough room at the first outlet for two guys. Take a ticket and wait your turn at the second. Pete
Members Kansasfly09 Posted July 14, 2015 Author Members Posted July 14, 2015 Would it just be better to drive over to Roaring River? Or do you think it will be worth to wait in line and fight high water?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 14, 2015 Root Admin Posted July 14, 2015 If you want to wade, check RR's water levels and if they are good, I'd go there. Taney is just too high to wade.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 14, 2015 Root Admin Posted July 14, 2015 Might check Crane Creek too.
Members Kansasfly09 Posted July 14, 2015 Author Members Posted July 14, 2015 Thank you as always for the good information Phil.
JestersHK Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Anyone have a quick link or some info on Crane Creek? I am heading down this weekend as well. How's the dock fishing been Phil? May try that to avoid the zoo at the outlets. Thanks as always for the info too!
Members Kansasfly09 Posted July 14, 2015 Author Members Posted July 14, 2015 Are you able to fly fish much from the bank at Taney?
JestersHK Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 You can, but its mostly just dropping your flies in at the mouth of the outlet and letting them flow naturally out into the current. I mostly jig fish around them so I can cast a bit farther out, and try to stay out of the congregation of guys all drifting by the outlet opening. Especially if the water is up and moving. There is a hole past the restrooms down by the wire cable that you can sometimes get to it even with the water up... but not sure how what it will be like with all the flow they have been generating. It can get a bit deep on that end so be careful if you try to venture out. Landed some nice fish down there my last time out, but we were in well over our waist deep water. Good luck, maybe I'll see ya down there. Plan on fishing every day starting around 5:30 or 6 in the morning. Friday through Sunday.
