If you tie a Palomar with fluorocarbon correctly it should never have a problem. Just can't let it overlap itself when you make the overhand knot and when you cinch it down or it'll cut itself right in half.

It's the only terminal knot I ever use now unless I'm tying on a very small fly which isn't often anymore.

Wotton knot is OK. particularly if you make one of your turns a double turn. That is on Line to lure/ hook. I've had zero luck using the Wotton for leaders. Seems to break, or slip every time. You really can't beat a Triple Surgeon for Tippet to leader connections.

I would think if you're one of the guys that uses braid with a fluorocarbon leader, you would hesitate to use the palomar on the lure, because it's a waste of a longer tag end and keeps shortening your leader substantially

I keep it simple. Clinch knots, improved sometimes, and the Davy for itty bitty stuff. Triple surgeons for braid to leader, our uni-uni if there is something tied on the leader that I dont want to re-tie. Non-slip mono loop if I want a loop knot. It hardly matters around here...not many game fish many fish over 10lbs, Tie a quick easy knot and don't worry about it. Sometimes a blood knot, our an Albright. Don't have to think to tie any of them. If I had any expectation of catching 20-30lb fish on a regular basis I'd probably pay more attention to it.

Yeah, I like a Palomar but tie a clinch on my leader setup. Also, I kinda want to break off at the lure rather than the leader.
