Members showmebass Posted August 16, 2015 Members Posted August 16, 2015 I was up at Lake of the Ozarks for a few days last week with some family. Fishing was just ok, though much better than Beaver right now. Anyway - my B-I-L and I were running to a spot around midnight when we almost ran into this. Probably came within 20 feet of it, right in the middle of the lake just floating around. We towed it to a nearby ramp, tied it off, and called the Water Patrol. Even with the 30 mph nighttime speed limit on LOZ, we didn't see it until we were right on top of it. Pucker factor was at a 10.
nomolites Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Good on you for scanning for trouble!!! Never assume; I have even seen small v-hulls with no lights out on the main lake at night.... Mike
fishinwrench Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Odd that it was covered but not tethered. Yeah you never know what's going to be floating around out there at night. I've ran across just about everything you can imagine....INCLUDING PEOPLE ! (seemingly sober, but obviously stupid). I asked if he wanted a ride back to his dock and he said "no I'm good but thanks". Wow! J-Doc 1
Members showmebass Posted August 16, 2015 Author Members Posted August 16, 2015 You never know what you might find on LOZ at night. A few years ago, a buddy and me ran across some folks (all female, about 10 of them) swimming at night. None were sober, and none were fully clothed. I've never seen a water trampoline put to better use. J-Doc 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 A few years back my brother and i were on table rock doing a night time sail on his 27 ft sailboat, this was when the lake was just low enough for us to get the mast under the bridge. Right as we got passed the bridge we hit a bass boat and it about threw us off the sailboat. It was just floating with no one in it. We hit it going about 4 mph. Cant imagine if we were going 30. Boats were also coming and going out of the cove where Ahoys was. So its probably a good thing we hit it instead. We towed it back to the KC marina and weighted till morning. Found a sticker on it that led us to believe that it was from a rented slip at a resort. So we called and found the owner. My brother made the guy come down and learn to tie some knots before he would let him leave. Put a pretty nice gouge in his fiberglass. All the sailboat needed was some elbow grease

jolicious Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Sorry J-Doc. This event occurred right before the advent of cell phone cameras. Perhaps we could put you in touch with a good sketch artist. For reference and educational purposes only, of course. J-Doc 1
