I've always heard storing a battery on concrete is not good for the battery....is this true? Or an old wive's tale?

Not doubting, just curious, what was it previously that caused that?

I think it's an old wives tale.  The one thing that I don't understand is, with advanced technology, especially with batteries.  Why can't they make a car/boat battery about the size of you cell phone?

Capacity.

Your cell phone takes almost nothing to run. Your trolling motor on the other hand needs some power for a long period of time.

They have come out with compact jump start batteries, they are lithium I believe.  Weego's largest capacity measures in the neighborhood of 9" X 3" X 1.5".  Supposedly enough capacity to start most gas engines and outboards.  I do not own one or have seen one is use, just going by product claims.  Do a search on "Weego".
