Al Agnew Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 I just keep the number in my head. I know, I'm weird. Every few seconds or minutes, whatever number I'm on flashes through my brain, in a holding pattern until the next fish is caught. I used to keep the count based upon what species of bass on Big River...number of smallmouth first, largemouth second, spotted bass third, so, for instance, the numbers 16-6-5 would be running in my brain. I don't know how I do it...I can stop for lunch and never think of the numbers, but then when I pick up the rod again after lunch, the number I was on pops back into my head. It's not difficult for me and it doesn't seem to intrude upon either my fishing or my awareness of the landscape around me. I've been doing it for a LONG time, though sometimes I just don't feel like keeping count.
Jerry Rapp Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Al, do you ever read any of the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child? Reacher is a numbers guy also.
fishinwrench Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 I never forget a "keeper", but if I caught 100-200 a day I might.
