MaxDrown Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 My wife are planning a two-night camping trip in Oct. We usually like to camp down at Greer on the 11pt, but we'd like to explore the Emminence area this time. Can you all make any camping recommendations for us? We'll be tent camping and prefer some privacy to the campsite. We'll also be doing a 1-day fishing float on the Current Rivers on kayaks. -- Max Drown
GloryDaze Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Alley Spring is nice, as well as Pulltite. My wife and I take an annual trip and stay at Pulltite. I think they usually keep the water on through October 15th... a must for my wife. We usually float a day on the Current and either float from Akers Ferry back to our camp. Or we float from our camp down to Round Spring. Alley Spring puts you pretty close to Eminence, 5 miles I think. That would also allow you to float the Jacks Fork if you choose. moguy1973 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Two rivers is a nice place to stay too. Folks running that place are friendly and helpful. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Ham Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Gravelbars are my preferred camping spot. Running water year round. Low rates. Lots of space. Incredible views. Smallie Seeker 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
jdmidwest Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Two Rivers is good, good float camp for both Jacks or the Current. Akers, other misc camps at Eminence are good too with showers. If you are roughing it, many more options. I think we are staying at 2 Rivers in a couple of weeks for 3 days. Not many campsites, but a good float provider. MaxDrown Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 Showers and running water are optional. More interested in a quiet, private campsite. -- Max Drown
jdmidwest Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Then you are pretty open to anywhere. Not any big game hunting going on, so anywhere along either river should be a nice camp. The crowds should be pretty light everywhere now. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
