fishinwrench Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Some kind of larva. Zebra mussels ? My bass boat hull is covered in them and I'm seeing them on customers boats too. They are transparent until they dry out, then they turn black.
Quillback Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Zebra mussel larvae are microscopic. So I'm told, never have seen one in the flesh.
fishinwrench Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 They are a bitch to clean off. You have to scratch them off with a fingernail or plastic scraper then scrub like hell to get the remnants of each one off. Total PIA ! I apparently ran through a big cloud of them. Quite a few above the waterline but thickest at the bow right at the water line.
Old plug Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 That first photo sure looks like a zebra mussel. Maybe they are in that stage where they suspend and attach themselves. I never knew they. We're that big though when they did.
fishinwrench Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 Maybe not Zebra's but regular mussels ? The little tube/tail thing is what makes me think it is a mussel of some kind.
WeekendWarrior Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Just went and checked mine and it is clean
Old plug Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I certainly hope so. I have not picked any or had them attached to anything I brought up up a one down here when jigging my spoons down here.
MOPanfisher Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Doesn't look a zebra mussell. By that size they would be permanently attached. Is there a noticeable shell. Regular mussels don't attach to things I don't believe.
WeekendWarrior Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 These come from gravois area or up the river?
