netboy Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Spent the last 4 weeks at our house in north Arkansas flinging flies after trout. Fishing was good with good numbers of trout most mornings. Both the White and Norfork rivers were running lots of water 24/7 so no wade fishing there. The lakes were being drawn down from the big rains earlier this spring and summer. We spent most of our time on the Spring river and made 3 exploratory trips to the Eleven Point river in southern Missouri. We rented a canoe from Brian Sloss at Eleven Point canoe rentals and put in at Greer and floated to Turner's Mill. We were really impressed with both the fishing and scenery on the Eleven Point. It's quite remote and on an all day float we never saw another fisherman. The fall colors were just reaching their peak when we left. Best flies were eggs, crawfish imitations and the old reliable olive woolly bugger. One thing we did learn is that you need lots of weight and extra long leaders to get the flies down on the Eleven Point. Here's a few pictures..... Caught this toad on the Spring. He weighed 8 3/4 on my hand scale and is my new PB trout. Ham Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Very nice as always. It's easy for me to get spoiled by the White/Norfork rivers since I live so close to them and the fishing is usually very productive, but I will quietly say that the trout fishing on the NFOW, 11 Pt, and Spring River can all be VERY rewarding. We also love the Norfork and White, but since we are wade fisherman, it's been a tough year over there. I understand they finally cut back on generation at Bull Shoals earlier this week. Should be some great fishing over there with lots of fat trout. Look forward to fishing over there on our next trip in December. Great thing about this area is there are lots of options. We plan to try the NFOW for the first time on our next trip. Ham 1
