Members dembones Posted November 18, 2015 Members Posted November 18, 2015 hey champ.....was thinking about meeting my son, that goes to mizzou, at loz this weekend and do a little fishin. do you think the whites would still be up shallow ? and what part of the lake should we try? ps. I know very little about loz thanks
nomolites Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I usually look for wind blown chunk rock on or near the main lake. Mike
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Whites can be darn near anywhere. Alot of guys like patterning windy main-lake banks but you can find them on the calm side too, or way up on the shallow mud flats on any given day. My advice to someone that hasn't pinned down any "favorite spots" yet is to start in the very back end of a creek arm and start working your way out. Start with 1/4oz. inline spinners, 1/8oz. 3" grubs, and/or 1/4oz. Lipless cranks.... Then experiment with different baits once you find a school. I can catch more out of each school on a flyrod on clousers and fat-headed streamers than I can on gear usually. I think they get conditioned to hard baits pretty quick.
96 CHAMP Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 well there you go, Fishinwrench knows what he is talking about, There is a chance I may come down this weekend, I stay in Indian creek and work my way out to the gravois, If you can find any get some vibric spinners in 1/4 oz in white, chartruese and just mix up some other colors, Good luck to you
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I just caught 7 nice ones in an hour, walking the bank with a 1/4oz. Redeye shad. The white bite should be on fire this week. Go get'em!
96 CHAMP Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 just where exactly are you on the lake wrench?? The weather will be lousy I see, and what about the large mouth, I was at table rock over the weekend and did well on spinner bait, square bill and top water. Was wandering if the same would apply at LOZ
fishinwrench Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I was fishing right up here by the MDC access where all the pelicans are hanging out. The green bass bite had gotten incredibly slow just before the rain, but I'll be out trying them tomorrow to see if it has improved any. I'm thinking there will be a few decent ones along the seawalls and in the woody pockets, and a big Spinnerbait will catch them.... but we'll see.
Old plug Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I got stuff to do the whole rest of the week. But if I get home early enough to I am going to hit it tomorrow afternoon. Think I will run behind the docks and try a couple things with mostly Mitch' s sinkos and craw. Mostly channel banks on the north shore. I am 3 miles down from wrench wrench and it might be different down here. Big spinner baits would send me home with.a sore shoulder pretty fast. So I m kind of forced to fish out of the box and look for another way. Always have been kind of knot headed anyway about following good advice.
