Nice Marty.  Been filling the freezer myself.  Got an 8 pointer Satuday evening with the bow while wearing orange for the youth season, then a nice doe Sunday morning wearing orannge again.  My nephew was down bow hunting out of one of my stands on Saturday so after I shot the 8 pointer I went back to the house to drop off gear.  Picked up my nephew and we went back to the woods to drag the deer out.  Got to where the deer was and noticed my sister-in-laws cat sitting on top of the deer.  I called to the kitty and he got off the deer and walked a little closer to us but never came all the way up. We started dragging the deer out of the woods with the cat following us as I called "come on Bob kitty kitty". We dragged the deer about 80 yards and stopped for a breather. I took a better look at Bob kitty, and realized he was not Bob the kitty at all. He was a grey fox. Decided to make an eye doctor appointment for tomorrow. The doe on Sunday morning, after being shot ran the exact same path that the buck did after being shot. The doe died exactly 2 feet from the same spot that the buck dropped.  image.jpeg.551a6baba22f9e029ee7af8b0804e

Excellent Duane! Good story too. Gray fox are cool. Act more like a feline than canine. I remember the first time I seen one go straight up a tree, I mean straight up and out on a limb scoping me out. I thought about getting my eyes checked too. I told my story to some friends and they thought I needed to see a shrink.

Nothing like shopping in the outdoor pantry,

Marty and Duane - Congrats on filling the freezer.

Marty - I once saw a gray fox climb 10 feet up a hickory tree to check out a squirrel nest. I saw this same fox several times in late Oct/early Nov all around my tree stand. I never saw3 him around my tree stand after the fur bearer season opened or else he may be now living in my basement.
