cheesemaster Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Launched at 9am and ran up river to Flat Creek. Water temp was 48 so I started with a jerk bait and didn't put it down until my arms and hands started cramping, about 3:30. I had 8 keeper largemouth and a total of 21 fish. 4 smallmouth with 1 keeper. The largest LM was 16.5". I lost a hard puller that I never seen, but felt like a good fish. I pounded the banks for 6.5 hours and it was a pretty good day. Most of the fish came from lay downs. Champ188 1
Hammer time Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Great day! Thanks for the report, did you ever throw a jig during your outing?
cheesemaster Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 I did from 3:30 to about 4:00 and caught 1 largemouth that was 14".
m&m Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Cheese, sounds like you had a great day. Also a little cooler up there than by the dam. Thanks for the info. Mike
176champion Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Sounds like a great day...How far up flat creek did you go?.....last time i was up there...not as far as the 123 bridge there was a log floating about 10 foot long up there. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
cheesemaster Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 I went up past the 173 bridge about 3/4 of a mile I guess.
Quillback Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Good stuff Cheese, I could not get a bite on a JB the other day, seems like the fish are eating different stuff depending based on what part of the lake, or are just changing up every day. Or, could be that I stink at jerk baiting.

Mike Noticed that too Mike. I guess that big water down by the dam is holding heat a little better? I'm wondering if it's opposite in the summer?

Back ends warm up first in spring, but can fluctuate more overnight. Back end of Kings might be 50+ on a spring afternoon, but lose 3-6 degrees overnight. Main lake at the same reading times will be cooler, but won't yo yo as much. Can make fishing a slower game, but a more consistent one. Ben Gillispie 1

This is such great info dtrs5kprs , and makes perfect sense, really.
