I assume that it is a lack of habitat that favors bluegill. Lots of Lomgear Sunfish and in some areas Green Sunfish, but I've never found areas that have lots of bluegills. I saw a bluegill once at the Lakeview dock on BSL that must have easily been over two pounds. It would come up to eat dying minnows the dock employees would toss in from time to time. I am positive it was a bluegill. Ham 1

While I've never caught anything approaching that size, I've caught some of the biggest bluegill of my life on Bull Shoals and Norfork. I have tried to target them a little with mixed results. Guest Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Fatty Bluegills target the Ned rig as do the slab crappie...
Tanderson15 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Buy far largest bluegills were from BS fishing for walleyes. All big black ones. They must have been on beds. Because they keep eating our bait so we ate them. When they get far larger than your hand, eat them. Champ188 1
